The Pines cottage is located on the Big Rideau Lake which is part of the historic Rideau Canal waterway, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Pines was built in 1918 by John Evan Evans and still in the Evans family today. This cottage boasts both charm and character. The Pines Boathouse is featured in the award-winning book, “Rideau,” written by Larry Turner with photographs by John DeVisser, published by Stoddart Canada (pictured below). The Pines was also featured in Cottage Life Magazine (October, 2011) and on the television show Cottage Country showing life at The Pines during Canada Day.
The cottage is situated overlooking Big Rideau Lake. The beautiful views, while enjoying the 12 metre screened in verandah, will guarantee this is the room you will spend most of your time in. Whether dining at the eight foot pine harvest table with family and friends, reading, enjoying a glass of wine or watching the hummingbirds, the verandah will be your oasis.
The kitchen is fully equipped for meal preparation and has an inside dining room and living room. There are three bedrooms - 2 of the bedrooms have queen beds and 1 with a double bed.
